Brief Overview:
GATE at our school is for any gifted, bright and talented students. The purpose of this program is to provide students with a different and unconventional learning experience which, ideally, will encourage students to take more ownership and control over their learning, allowing them to leave us better individuals. Enrichment consists of: curriculum compacting, IDC courses, AP, PEL and ELOPE. Through some of these channels, students realize that they make a lot of the decisions and their commitment to their work increases dramatically. Students are expected to do homework (homework that they themselves assign) and attend regularly. The following are characteristics that students should demonstrate to be good candidates for this program: strong interpersonal skills; creative; organized; independent worker and team player; potential leader; hardworking; committed. By the end of the year, students will have learned many valuable skills to assist them in succeeding both in and outside of school.
Please see the About section for more information on all the activities and programs we offer.
